PING Glide 3.0 wedge review – The latest wedges from PING

PING recently rolled out their latest line of wedges with the new Glide 3.0 series. The Glide 3.0 wedges started with a blank page and the PING research and development team looked to design every element of the new wedge line from the ground up. The result is a wedge that provides more forgiveness, higher spin rates and an overall softer feel.

The Glide 3.0 is the best of both worlds as it draws on the look of a players wedge whilst delivering game-improvement performance and feel. The four grind options caters for common turf conditions and can be suited to your specific angle of attack.

PING’s new cavity back design combined with a Custom Tuning Port insert creates a uniquely soft but solid feel at impact. With an increased MOI the result is a wedge that produces a lower launching, higher spinning ball flight delivering exceptional control.

PING’s new technology of wheel-cut grooves creates incredibly sharp edges to each groove providing increased levels of spin and control. This is especially apparent with the 54, 56, 58 and 60 degree options which have an extra ½ groove at the bottom of the face to maximize spin potential at impact.

One of the stand out attributes of the Glide 3.0 is the way PING have successfully managed to combined the look of a players style wedge with that of a game improvement one. With a sharp top line the appearance is striking yet reassuring at address.

Standard Sole (SS) Grind

The standard sole grid is aimed at Golfers with a mid level AoA. It’s a bit of a ‘jack of all trades’ and delivers consistent feel and performance on a range of different types of turf and sand.

Wide Sole (WS) Grind

PING’s wide sole grid is by far the most forgiving offering and aimed at Golfers who have a steep AoA. The wide sole grind has high levels of bounce and is conducive to soft conditions.

Eye2 Sole Grind

Building on the original PING grind the Eye2 sole caters for exceptional performance and feel from bunkers, tight lies and around the green.

  1. Got hold of the 54 degree Eye2 grind and have loved chipping with these. Definitely worth giving a go if you are considering it!
