Scotty Cameron Phantom X 12.5 – Tour inspired alignment

Scotty Cameron today announced the Phantom X 12.5 – a new ‘low bend’ mallet putter which has been developed based on in-depth feedback from tour players and dedicated golfers alike. The new model builds on the hugely successful Phantom X 12 and is aimed at promoting an arc path for more toe flow in the putting stroke.

The legendary putter designer is well known for actively listening to the views and opinions of both Tour professionals and the ordinary consumer – something which has undoubtedly assisted with the almost cult following the brand sees. The new Phantom X 12.5 is no exception to this and we get yet another demonstration of how open Scotty Cameron is to evolving products based on direct feedback – something other brands could perhaps sit up and pay attention to.

One area in particular where Scotty Cameron has focused on with the Phantom X 12.5 is a new single sight line, which is created by milling a centralized gloss black line from the leading edge to the back of the flange. It creates a putter head that is clean, reassuring and stylish at address.

In terms of shaft design, when compared to the Phantom X 12, the new X 12.5 has a low-bend shaft setup, a stepless steel shaft with one shaft of offset and is designed to aim directly down the target line which in turn promotes a putting stroke with more toe flow. With this new shaft configuration the putter also sets up nicely for left-handed Golfers.

The sole features two removable stainless steel heel-toe weights that allow for the perfect custom fit. The mallet itself is made from 6061 aircraft grade aluminum, surrounded by heavier 303 stainless steel ‘wings’ which helps to create a high-MOI and increased stability. The aluminum components are finished in an anodized black which reduces sun glare and the stainless steel elements are also misted to further decrease glare.

A ‘Dancing’ Scotty Cameron Pistolero Plus grip in cement gray with gloss black paintfill, and a striking yellow Phantom putter line headcover completes the Phantom X 12.5.

The 12.5 is due to be available in North America on December 12th 2019, and then worldwide from February 14th 2020 at Titleist authorized dealers.
