Vokey SM8 wedges set to debut on the PGA Tour

The latest masterpiece from Bob Vokey, the Vokey SM8 wedges, are set to make their Tour debut at the The RSM Classic this week. The event at Sea Island will be the first chance that Tour players put the SM8 in play and Vokey himself along with Tour rep Aaron Dill and Director of Wedge Research & Development, Kevin Tassistr, have been hard at work in getting the new SM8 wedges made to the exacting specification of each player.

Whilst Titleist staffers have in some instances had unmarked proto Vokey SM8 wedges in their bag over the last few months, the RSM Classic will be the first time that the SM8 breaks cover to the World stage. Speaking at launch Bob Vokey said “Every new design starts with our Tour Pros, so it’s only right that every launch begins with them, as well. Out here with these guys is my favorite place to be.”

Compared to the SM7 the new SM8 styling features a prominent ‘Vokey Design’ logo adorning the back of the club and the ‘Spin Milled’ logo that has been used since 2004 been dropped. The larger BV wings logo has increased in size to make a clean, modern look.

The expectation is that the Titleist Vokey SM8 will follow the normal Tour validation process and be available too all in the coming months – likely to be early 2020.

    1. Not sure how much of an evolution thi s is likely to be from SM7 – any idea? I’m reluctant to change every year as I can’t see how there can be that much improvement.
