World number two, Jon Rahm, recently signed a multi-year contract with Callaway along with sister brand, TravisMathew. Having previously been with TaylorMade-Adidas we got used to seeing Rahm wearing the Adidas Tour360 EQT Boa week in, week out. Having made the move across to TravisMathew his shoe choice is currently somewhat up in the air. The latest reports suggest he’ll ultimately be wearing the TravisMathew Cuater golf shoes. For now though, he’s wearing the Nike Air Jordan 11 Retro Low Concord having been spotted in January 2021 at the Sentry Tournament Of Champions and Farmers Insurance Open in the shoes.
The Nike Air Jordan 11 Retro Low Concord are somewhat of a collectors items. Nike sadly no longer offer these but there are a number listed on a well known online auction site. Originally developed as a basketball shoe changes were made to allow an on-court style work on the fairways. The shoes have a soft foam midsole and a translucent outer sole that incorporates a studded cleat setup featuring 7 removable Champ PiviX golf spikes. This caters for multidirectional grip to cater for solid traction levels at all stages of the golf swing. This particular version of the shoe originally retailed for $220 back in 2019.
The original “Concord” styled upper is replicated with a soft leather upper and black patent leather mudguard design, while the iconic Jordan branding is located at the tongue and rear. Rahm has been seen wearing a number of different versions of the shoe, reportedly from his own collection. In January 2021 he was spotted at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and then at the Farmers Insurance Open wearing the Nike Air Jordan 11 Retro Low Concord in the white/black-volt color style.
No doubt Rahm will be bringing his own sense of style to a Cuater design development and we’ll keep you up to date on any developments with the planned shoe development.
