With all the equipment change rumours swirling over Rory McIlroy of late we’ve been keeping a close eye on what’s going into his bag as we approach Major season! Having been a long time user of was using a the TaylorMade Spider X putter it seems Rory has started to look around and has returned to his old favorite with Scotty Cameron, however the Newport 2 he’s been seen testing isn’t a putter he’s used before.
Most recent Golf.com’s Jonathan Wall was able to get a glimpse of Rory’s latest changes and a custom Newport 2 was the standout change, sitting neatly alongside his other recent change back to Vokey wedges.
Confirmed: Rory McIlroy's Scotty Cameron Newport GSS is a new putter — not one he's used in the past. (The 👍 stamp is now on Rory, JT and Scottie's putters, if you're into that sort of minutiae.)

The Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter is a classic blade-style putter designed for golfers who want a clean, traditional look at address. This putter is part of the Super Select line of putters from Scotty Cameron, which features a range of designs to fit every golfer’s preferences. Rory’s particular Newport 2 has custom engravings of ‘Rors’ and ‘Cameron GSS’ added to it, most likely by Mr Scotty Cameron himself.
The Newport 2 putter features a solid stainless steel construction with a precision-milled face that provides a soft, responsive feel at impact. The face is also designed to provide a pure roll and consistent distance control, helping golfers make more putts on the course. The putter head has a heel-toe weighting system that helps promote a straighter stroke and improved stability during the putting motion.
