As one of the coolest golfers on Tour we’re always following the latest look of Brooks Koepka, and one of the most common questions we see online is ‘what golf shoes does Brooks Koepka wear’? In this article we take a closer look at the styles Brooks opts for and find out more about his recent choices throughout 2019 and 2020.
Throughout 2019 Brooks was a firm wearer of the Nike Golf Tour Premiere which he had incredibly success with having won the 2019 PGA Championship and regaining the title of number one player in the World. He was also the PGA of America Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year.
All that changed in 2020 when his long time partner Nike collaborated with Brooks to develop the Nike Air Zoom Infinity which he was first spotted wearing at the HSBC Championship in Abu Dhabi.
Update – May 2021
Brooks was most recently spotted at the 2021 PGA Championship wearing the limited edition Nike Air Zoom Infinity Tour NRG in the Hydrogen Blue/Sail/Obsidian/Crimson Tint colorway. The Nike Air Zoom Infinity Tour NRG might look different, but it stays true to the performance and comfort you’ve come to expect from Nike Golf. The result is an innovative new design that’s committed to creating a better future for footwear. Get the latest Brooks Koepka golf shoes here >>
Matt Plumb the Product Line Manager for Nike Golf said about the Air Zoom Infinity that “Golfers look at their clubs and golf balls as pieces of equipment, but never really their footwear. Brooks was instrumental in the Air Zoom Infinity Tour iterative process, helping us get to the point where we can now help golfers look at their footwear as part of their equipment on the course.”
The Nike Air Zoom Infinity was original inspired by a running shoe design and shape. Nike took their market leading experience and developed a shoe that has unrivalled comfort and response with one of the key design areas being the cutting edge traction pattern creating exceptional levels of grip.
During the design phase Koepka was keen to develop a unique twist on the shoe and dedicated a design to his hero, Kobe Bryant. Koepka was hoping to give a pair of the shoes to Kobe but tragically it never happened as on 26 January 2020 Bryant died in a helicopter crash along with members of his family and friends as well as the pilot.
At the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Koepka wore the design in tribute to Bryant saying that he wanted to “channel the Mamba Mentality”. He also donated the shoes to charity with the aim of raising money for the families involved in the crash.
From the start Air Zoom Infinity Tour was developed with the player at the centre of the process. With thousands of hours of R&D put into it in both the lab and on the course the end result is a shoe that delivers security of foot movement through the swing, whilst all the time allowing enough flex to produce the sort of swing speed Brooks is capable of.
More recently however in the mid part of 2020 Brooks has been spotted again wearing the Nike Tour Premiere shoe, perhaps preferring the style depending on certain grip levels available.
The Nike Tour Premiere golf shoes utilises the FASTFIT lacing system which makes things incredibly easy for the Golfer. It delivers a secure and locked in fit which is fundamental to the shoe itself and helps to create unrivalled performance. The one piece ankle bootie and padded ankle collar provides supreme comfort levels, this combined with the the Phylon footbed delivers a shoe that is hard to beat.
